Tax Assistant (Income Tax & Central Excise Depts.) Examination
Scheme of Examination
The examination will be conducted in two parts:
A. Part I Written Examination: 300 marks
B. Part II Skill Test.
A. Part I: Written Examination:
The Examination will consist of two Papers I and II. Paper I will be Objective Type Multiple Choice whereas Paper II will be of Conventional Type.
Part A – General English 100 Marks
Part B – General Awareness 100 Marks
BOTH PARTS EXAM DURATION 2 Hours Combined 9.30 AM to 11.30 AM
Arithmetic 100Marks 2 Hours 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM
NOTE I:
Question Paper (Test Booklets ) for part B of Paper I (General Awareness) and Paper II (Arithmetic) will be set both in English and Hindi.
NOTE II:
Paper II (Conventional Paper) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Paper I at the minimum standard which may be decided by the Commission at its discretion.
B. Part II: SKILL TEST
Data Entry Speed of 8000 Key Depressions per hour (appropriate to the text) on computer. This Data Entry Speed/Skill Test would be of qualifying nature. Candidates allowed to take this test will have
to qualify the test at the prescribed speed on Computer, to be provided by the Commission or agency authorized by the Commission to conduct such skill test at the Centre/venue so notified.
NOTE I:
The Skill Test will be conducted by an agency duly authorized by the Commission for the purpose, under the supervision and control of Commission.
NOTE II:
Only those candidates who secure in the written examination the minimum qualifying marks as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will only be eligible to appear in the SKILL TEST. The SKILL TEST will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or other Centres as may be decided by the Commission.
Note-III: Exemption in the Skill Test for PH candidates is subject to Government policy in force. The PH candidates opting for post in CBDT are exempted for appearing in Skill Test. However, PH candidates opting for post in CBEC are not exempted from Skill Test.
Note-IV: Detailed instructions regarding Skill Test would be sent by the Regional Office of the Commission to eligible candidates declared qualified for appearing in Skill Test.No TA is payable to any candidate for appearing in the written examination/Skill Test.
Sir, Is this the latest process of selection, i mean now, i think, CGL is the base instead of all these written exams. Is this correct or not?
