Income Tax Slab for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27)
In the Union Budget 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced significant revisions to the income tax slabs under the new tax regime, effective from April 1, 2025, for the financial year 2025-26.

To make the new tax system more appealing than the previous one, the government has made considerable changes to it. The introduction of a number of measures that were favorable to taxpayers in February 2023 marked the beginning of the transition to the new regime. These included raising the basic exemption threshold, introducing a standard deduction, and increasing the tax refund under Section 87A for taxable incomes up to ₹7 lakh.
