Is There Any Update on Severance Season 3?
The third-season renewal of "Severance" has not yet been formally confirmed by Apple TV+ as of March 21, 2025. Nonetheless, a number of signs point to the imminence of an official renewal. Interestingly, the show was renewed just two days prior to the premiere of the first season. A similar statement might be coming today, as the Season 2 finale airs.
Why did Severance Season 2 Take So Long?
Production of "Severance" Season 2 was severely hampered by outside forces, most notably the 2023 industry strikes. In New York City, filming started on October 3, 2022, and the first wrap date was scheduled for May 12, 2023.
However, production was temporarily halted in May 2023 due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Despite a brief restart on May 13, 2023, in Newfoundland, the dual actors' and writers' strikes caused the filming to be halted once more. In the end, production resumed on January 29, 2024, and ended on April 23, 2024.
Despite these disruptions, executive producer and five-episode director Ben Stiller said that a significant amount of the season had been finished before the strikes. He stressed the team's dedication to producing a top-notch season while acknowledging the delays.
