SPM Result 2025 Released
SPM Result 2025 was released on April 24th. The 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination has achieved the best National Average Grade (GPN) since the introduction of the new format in 2021.
This year’s GPN is 4.49, showing an improvement from last year’s score of 4.60. A lower GPN indicates better overall performance, meaning that students in the 2024 cohort performed better than those in the previous year.
Education director-general, Datuk Azman Adnan, explained that the number of bright candidates, namely A+, A and A- in all subjects occupied, increased by 14,179 candidates in 2024 compared to 11,713 in 2023.
According to Education Director-General Datuk Azman Adnan, the achievement gap between urban and rural candidates also narrowed to just 0.02 points, reflecting positive progress toward educational equity.
A total of 355,933 candidates, or 94% of those who sat for the exam, are eligible to receive their SPM certificates, compared to 93.5% (349,297 candidates) in 2023.
Of the 95 subjects assessed, 59 showed improved performance, 30 declined, and one remained the same as the previous year. Additionally, five new subjects were introduced under the revised syllabus.
Performance in STEM-related elective subjects, including Pure Sciences and Additional Mathematics, also improved, with Chemistry recording the highest improvement — its Subject Average Grade (GPMP) rising by 0.37 points from 4.89 in 2023 to 4.52 in 2024. In total, 402,918 candidates registered for the 2024 SPM, up from 395,924 in 2023.
How to Check SPM Result Online and via SMS?
To make it easier for candidates to check their SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) results, there are three main methods available: online, via SMS, and through school. Here’s a complete guide for each method:
1. Online Check
Candidates can check their SPM 2024 results online via the official KPM (Ministry of Education) website. To do so:
- Visit the official website of the SPM Results Checking System at https://myresultspm.moe.gov.my.
2. Check via SMS
For candidates who prefer using their mobile phones, the SPM results can also be checked via SMS. Here’s how:
SMS Format: Type SPM (space) KP No. (space) TURN NUMBER and send it to 15888.
Example: SPM 060427031334 WY034B040 send SMS to 15888.
Candidates must ensure that the number used to send the SMS is correct and follows the prescribed format.
3. Through School
Candidates can also collect their results directly from their school.
About SPM
The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), also known as the Malaysian Certificate of Education, is a national examination taken by all Form 5 secondary school students in Malaysia.
It is equivalent to the GCSE in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, Nationals 4/5 in Scotland, and the GCE O Level in other Commonwealth countries.
As the leaving examination for the eleventh grade, SPM serves as a gateway for students to pursue foundation studies, STPM, matriculation, or diploma programs.
The SPM exam is administered and marked by the Malaysian Examinations Board (Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia).
For students enrolled in international schools in Malaysia, the IGCSE is the corresponding examination, while the Unified Examinations Certificate (UEC) aligns more closely with the Advanced Level.
SPM certificates, such as the version introduced in 2021, are issued upon successful completion of the exam.
