UC Berkeley UG Admissions How to Apply?
- The application opens August 1, and you may submit the application October 1 – December 2.
- Complete the UC application. Apply to as many UC campuses as you like with one application.
- Applicants should refer to their transcript(s) as they fill out the application to ensure the information they enter is accurate. Applicants should not submit transcripts at this point in the process. Please do not submit supporting documents such as awards, photographs, poetry, etc. with the application. Application process
Admission to UC Berkeley is a two-step process: satisfying requirements and selection. All achievement—both academic and nonacademic/personal—is considered in the context of your educational circumstances, with an emphasis on the opportunities or challenges presented to you and your response to them. No single attribute or characteristic guarantees the admission of any applicant to Berkeley.
First Year Minimum Requirements
- Students who apply to Berkeley should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Meet the A-G subject course requirements. (Review the A-G Policy Resource Guide)
- Have a 3.0 GPA in A-G courses taken in the 10th and 11th grade years. (3.4 GPA for non-residents)
- The minimum requirements for Berkeley transfer admissions are listed below. It is important to note that transfer admission requirements will vary by college and major, however there are a number of requirements that are common across all colleges. These requirements must be complete by the end of the spring term prior to the fall term you are applying for:
Transfer Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 60 UC-transferable semester (90 UC-transferable quarter units)
- Please note that every course offered at your institution is not UC-transferable

- Overall minimum GPA of 3.0 in all transferable college-level coursework
- Lower division major preparation courses
