General Hospital

General Hospital (often abbreviated as GH) is an American daytime television soap opera that has been airing on ABC since April 1, 1963.

Created by Frank and Doris Hursley, the show has become one of the longest-running soap operas in television history.

Originally, General Hospital was a half-hour serial. However, it expanded its format over time, first lengthening its run to 45 minutes on July 26, 1976, and then to a full hour on January 16, 1978.

These changes allowed the show to explore more complex storylines and deepen character development.
