Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), Jaipur, has released the Information Booklet for the Medical Officer Direct Recruitment Examination 2026 (MODRE-2026), inviting online applications for the recruitment of 600 Medical Officer (Medical) posts under the Directorate of Medical Health & Family Welfare Services, Government of Rajasthan. RUHS conducts the examination only - the final recruitment and eligibility verification is carried out by the Directorate of Medical Health & Family Welfare Services, Government of Rajasthan.

In brief: RUHS is conducting MODRE-2026, an eligibility-cum-ranking exam for 600 Medical Officer (Medical) posts in Rajasthan. Candidates holding an MBBS degree with a Permanent Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) registration, aged 22–45 years, can apply. Online registration opens 14.09.2026 and closes 13.10.2026. The exam is offline (OMR-based), tentatively scheduled for 13.12.2026 in Jaipur. Applications are online only, via www.ruhsraj.org. Only Bonafide Residents of Rajasthan are eligible for reservation benefits.

RUHS MODRE 2026 Vacancy Details

There are 600 total vacancies for Medical Officer (Medical), distributed category-wise as below. The number of vacancies may be increased or decreased by the appointing authority as needed.

Additional horizontal reservation is provided: 4% for Special/PwBD candidates (24 posts in the new recruitment) and 5% for Ex-Servicemen candidates, distributed across UR/EWS/BC/SC/ST/MBC categories. Within posts reserved for women, 8% are reserved for widows and 2% for divorced/separated women; if unavailable, these are filled by general women of the same category. Out of the 24 PwBD-suitable posts for Medical Officer, the benchmark disability categories identified as suitable include One Arm, One Leg, Both Legs, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Specific Learning Disability, and Multiple Disabilities (as per the relevant categories).

Important: Candidates who are Non-Bonafide Residents of Rajasthan will be treated as Unreserved (UR) and will not get any reservation benefit for age, category, or fee relaxation.

RUHS MODRE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Essential Qualification: M.B.B.S.
• As per Personnel Department notification No. F-03(7)DOP/A-II/97 dated 17.09.1999, registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) is mandatory as on the date of the written examination. If Permanent RMC registration is not available at the time of filling the online application, it must be uploaded within 2 days after the date of examination - but its date of issue must be on or before the examination date.
• Preferred qualification: Practical knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthan's culture.

Eligibility for Foreign Medical Graduates

Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India who obtained their Primary Medical Qualification from a medical college outside India must have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) as per the Screening Test Regulations 2002 (as amended), conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. They must also have obtained a Permanent Registration Certificate from the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC), Jaipur, on or before the date of the MODRE-2026 examination.

Marriage & Children Status Conditions

• As per Personnel Department notification dated 08.04.2003, a candidate with more than two children on or after 01.06.2002 is not eligible for appointment.
• Candidates who are married must provide marriage registration information at the time of joining, as per the circular dated 30.06.2006.
• Candidates with more than one spouse (bigamy) are not eligible for this recruitment.
• Candidates who have taken or given dowry at the time of their marriage are not eligible for this recruitment.
• Before joining, candidates must submit a health certificate and police character verification from the concerned Superintendent of Police.

RUHS MODRE 2026 Age Limit

Minimum age is 22 years and maximum age is 45 years, as on 01.01.2027.

As the Department last issued a notification for this recruitment in 2024 through RUHS, additional age relaxation is payable as per the Personnel Department notification dated 23.09.2008. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates of Rajasthan is applicable as per State Government rules (Arthana and letters on the RUHS website); non-bonafide residents of Rajasthan are treated as UR and are not eligible for any age relaxation.

RUHS MODRE 2026 Salary

RUHS MODRE 2026 Application Fee

• Fee is payable only online - Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, or UPI, during the online application process. Offline modes (cash, draft, cheque, banker's cheque) are not permitted.
• The application fee is non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be adjusted against any other recruitment.
• Fee for candidates who remain absent or are declared ineligible for any reason will be forfeited.

RUHS MODRE 2026 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

• MODRE-2026 will be conducted OFFLINE in OMR-based mode.
• The question paper comprises 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each.
• Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes).
• There is no negative marking.
• The examination will be conducted in English language only.
• The exam centre will preferably be at Jaipur; RUHS reserves the right to create additional cities/centres.

Syllabus: The syllabus comprises all subjects studied by an MBBS graduate during the four-and-a-half-year curriculum as prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the competent authority.

MODRE-2026 is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination - RUHS is responsible only for conducting the exam, declaring the result, and handing it over to the designated recruitment authority. Document verification and final eligibility determination is carried out by that authority (Government of Rajasthan), not RUHS.

How to Apply for RUHS MODRE 2026

The online application process has 3 stages:

1. Stage 1 – Online Registration: Complete basic registration. No corrections are possible after submitting Stage 1.
2. Stage 2 – Detailed Application Form Filling: Enter personal details, qualification, employment details, responsible officer information, and upload documents. This can be edited until online fee payment.
3. Stage 3 – Fee Payment & Final Submission: Take a printout of the filled Stage 2 form and verify all details carefully before proceeding - no corrections are allowed after fee payment and final submission.

RUHS MODRE 2026 Important Instructions

• Appearing in the exam does not by itself give a candidate the right to eligibility - final eligibility is decided only after document verification and confirmation of all criteria by the Government of Rajasthan committee.
• Legal issues challenging the examination process are the responsibility of RUHS; issues relating to eligibility, reservation, and recruitment are the responsibility of the Government of Rajasthan.
• A candidate can submit the MODRE-2026 application only once - submitting more than one application form may lead to debarment and cancellation of candidature.
• RUHS will not entertain any request for change in the information provided by the candidate under any circumstances, once submitted.
• Application for MODRE-2026 can only be submitted online through www.ruhsraj.org - there is no other method of submission or fee deposit.
• Candidates trying to use unfair means will be disqualified from the recruitment, with no correspondence entertained.
• In case of any dispute, the jurisdiction will be the Hon'ble Rajasthan High Court only.
• The decision of RUHS in all aspects pertaining to the application, examination conduct, and all consequent stages is final and binding on all concerned.
• RUHS reserves the right to alter or modify the timelines and conditions of this notification as warranted by unforeseen circumstances, with updates published on the RUHS website.
